Recognition of the PAFC Congo Basin by the PEFC Council thanks to the support of TEREA
On December 9, 2021, the PEFC International Council recognized the Pan African Forest Certification (PAFC) Congo Basin scheme following an application submitted by the ATIBT, technically supported by TEREA, on behalf of PAFC Cameroon, PAFC Congo and PAFC Gabon, almost a year ago.
This is an important step in the process of homologation of the regional forest certification system, with the aim of permanent validation, which has just been achieved.
The next steps are the implementation and support of companies in their PAFC Congo Basin certification process, as well as the elaboration of a guide on the mapping of carbon stocks and GHG emissions, which TEREA will be in charge of, financed through the PPECF.
